THE POSITION
The COO has overall accountabilities for the safe, efficient and profitable functioning of the global manufacturing operations, including continuous improvement, health and safety, procurement, quality and global capacity planning. This position is accountable for ensuring customer expectations are met and the standards of quality, accounting, administration and operations management – including budgets and forecasts – are maintained consistently and in accordance with best practices and specific guidelines and procedures. The position also ensures ongoing measurement, analysis, adjustment and reporting of all global operation activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assume overall responsibility for the global operations leadership.
- Create an accountability culture within the Operations team.
- Ensure all Senior Site Managers have the support and resources to fulfill their mandate and goals.
- Develop new business opportunities related to global operations.
- Provide support to manufacturing facilities, including labor attraction and retention, parts production, inventory management and logistics at all locations.
- Provide vision and leadership that encourages growth and safeguards the assets and financial viability.
- Assist and support the development of new product designs and provide support and input on product research and development.
- Establish, with the assistance of the Senior Site Managers, performance goals such as KPIs, cost targets, revenue, production quantities, inventory management, safety metrics and product quality ratings.
- Plan, staff and supervise all assigned work unit activities through subordinate managers to ensure a cohesive operational unit.
- Promote and establish a continuous improvement culture.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Engineering or university degree and minimum 15 years of related manufacturing leadership.
- Minimum 10 years of leadership experience in a multi-location OEM Tier 1 automotive plastics manufacturing environment.
- Strong skill sets in Lean manufacturing, supply chain, safety, cost reductio and capital planning.
- Experience in budgeting, project management and leadership with financial, operations and human resources acumen.
