Our client is a commercial vehicle manufacturer.
THE POSITION
Reporting to the President & CEO, this person will play a critical role in the company’s effort to grow revenue to $100 million over the next two years by leading, improving, streamlining, organizing and enhancing the efficiency of the manufacturing operation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Developing a high-performance manufacturing team. Understanding motivation and proper incentive structures in the manufacturing environment and combining that with your expertise to develop a team that consistently delivers an efficient high-quality bus product that meets and exceeds customer and company goals and objectives.
- Recruiting, retaining and establishing an environment where growth within the company is realistic and attainable. Establishing and documenting training and cross-training programs to standardize production work practices.
- Driving manufacturing processes and continuous improvement. Organizing, developing and implementing manufacturing processes that drive Lean manufacturing principles and provide measurable results.
- Measuring, analyzing and standardizing production efficiency and work flow. Developing appropriate KPIs that measure productivity, quality, labor efficiency and worker satisfaction.
- Analyzing time study cell operations to fine-tune and enhance standard cost, labor rates and labor hours.
- Understanding product mix and developing production efficiencies around it.
- Understanding the mix of option heavy transit bus orders and their impact on productivity. Designing, implementing and executing a production system that maximizes efficiency.
- Organizing, fine-tuning and maximizing the production floor. Assessing the current three-line production layout, recommending and implementing appropriate changes to improve efficiency and maximize flow.
- Developing quality control systems. Working closely with the Director of Manufacturing and Quality Control Engineering to enhance, standardize and enhance the ability to provide consistent and measurable quality standards.
- Implementing the EPICOR ERP System. Playing a key role in the implementation and migration to the manufacturing engineering ERP system.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 10 years in a senior management position within a manufacturing environment with a history of progressive growth and increasing responsibility.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or sufficient work-related experience in manufacturing. A master’s degree in manufacturing, engineering or a related field is a plus.
- History and certifications in Lean manufacturing.
- Proven track record of driving growth and building high-functioning teams in a complex, non-standardized manufacturing environment.
