THE POSITION

The Vice President of Operations is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of production; supply chain; overall quality; health; safety; environmental (HSE) standards; and maintenance within the paint manufacturing company. This leader will ensure operational excellence, drive continuous improvement and foster a culture of safety and quality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, organize, coordinate and control production to ensure orders are manufactured safely, efficiently on time and within budget.
  • Manage employee and production process to ensure products are produced within quality standards.
  • Develop, maintain and improve metrics monitoring performance and attainment of objectives and key results (people, equipment, process).
  • Manage and drive improvements in shipping and receiving as well as the warehouse management.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the budget for the productions operations group, including capital and expense planning; resource forecasting; and cost reductions, as necessary.
  • Develop, review and implement strategies and actions resulting in continuous improvement in safety, product quality, product delivery, productivity, material utilization, customer service, workforce diversity, quality of work life and lower manufacturing and production costs. Implements and maintains Lean manufacturing concepts, such as 5S, TPM and Kanban.
  • Ensures robust security procedures and training are in place and that operations are following compliance as required by legislation and policy.
  • Responsible for a team of approximately 65 people.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in operations management, business, engineering or equivalent.
  • Twelve-plus years of progressive manufacturing experience with at least five years leading operations teams and at least two working at the VP / GM level.
  • A combination of small and large company experience to constitute infrastructure / process development and a foundation in scale.
  • Working knowledge of factors that impact standard production cost with a strong continuous improvement mindset.
  • Practical experience implementing Lean manufacturing and a strong grasp of the Lean tools and concepts.
  • Ability to drive a manufacturing organization to high levels of safety and performance.
