Vice President of Supply Chain -- Southeast (Closed)

THE COMPANY

The company is a supplier of metal and rod component parts.

THE POSITION

This role is ultimately responsible for all aspects of procurement and material management to include raw material, component items and consumables for all plants.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage procurement activities to support a $100 million-plus manufacturing operation.
  • Oversee the professional development and periodic evaluation of direct reports including the identification of employee development opportunities and implementation of comprehensive training programs.
  • Develop and maintain strategic supplier and vendor relationships, including cadence to support in-person visits.
  • Evaluate and develop supply strategies and policies that ensure an integrated sourcing system that minimizes total supply chain costs while maximizing supply chain effectiveness.
  • Evaluate and manage the network of suppliers, continually assessing contracts and costs with focus on cost reductions, quality and on-time delivery.
  • Analyze procurement costs and develop cost reduction strategies.
  • Manage materials strategy that supports organizational objectives through materials storage, movement and management of logistical partnerships including intra and inter-facility.
  • Champion continuous improvement efforts through knowledge and awareness, training, procurement and process improvement.
  • Participates in continuous improvement efforts by participating in the company’s hoshin kanri process, strategic planning initiatives.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, business or related discipline; MBA or M.S. preferred with CPM / APICS & CPIM certification.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive procurement / supply chain experience with five years of management / supervisory experience. A background that includes working in a highly engineered, configured to order (CTO), fast-paced, multi-site manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement (kaizen) and problem-solving techniques (Lean/Six Sigma) and experience leading large-scale change processes.
