Technical Manager

Our client is a leading provider of plastic packaging and containers.
THE POSITION
This person is responsible for managing and coordinating the day-to-day activities of the staff responsible for the setup, maintenance and repair of the thermoforming equipment and peripheral manufacturing equipment to satisfy the production schedule.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures all safety procedures are strictly adhered to, including that "Lock out and tag out" and fall protection are strictly enforced and disciplined.
- Manages a staff comprised of Setup Technicians and Setup Mechanics.
- Must effectively manage a staff that works the 24/7 schedule and properly communicate and coordinate activities on the evening and weekend work schedule.
- Periodically works a swing shift for the purpose of developing the second shift technical staff and ensuring consistency of work.
- Collaborates with the Production Control Manager and develops staffing plans to support the manufacturing schedule, machinery maintenance and repair schedule.
- Knowledgeable in the areas of 6S, SMED and Lean manufacturing principles and supports the implementation of such programs.
- Complies with the EHS Policy and applicable regulatory and company EHS rules and requirements.
- Prompt reporting of any unsafe conditions, practices or environmental concerns to supervision. Resolving potential hazards swiftly, thereby ensuring a safe work environment for all employees.
SALARY RANGE
$120,000 -- $140,000 plus bonus
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, management, business or a technical degree in a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of five years of equipment / maintenance experience that includes uptime and asset reliability improvement and sustainment in a busy manufacturing environment with at least three years in a supervisory role.
- Experience with thermoforming, injection molding, extrusion processing or stamping equipment is preferred. A background in food packaging or a similar industry is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of Lean / Six Sigma / CI tools preferred, but not required.
