Senior Manager, Continuous Improvement

Our client is a provider of certified water filtration and purification products.
THE POSITION
Responsible for the manufacturing engineering, maintenance and continuous improvement functions. Leads and assists in setting Lean manufacturing goals and strategies for improving operations and processes within the organization. Manages all activities in support of continuous improvement and performance enhancement. Teaches and employs Lean methodologies and tools to accomplish business objectives.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee, develop and set goals for a team comprised of manufacturing engineers, industrial engineers, continuous improvement engineers, project management leaders and maintenance department.
- Monitor reliability and performance of all internal systems to implement improvements.
- Prepare and manage the Engineering department’s budget.
- Partner with New Product Engineering to design strategies for future projects based on the company’s overall objectives and resources.
- Lead maintenance department through its implementation of TPM and maintain system.
- Lead and facilitate the development and management of Lean initiatives to achieve annual targets, strategy deployment process (SDP) and strategic plan objectives.
- Develop and continuously improve processes within operations and the wider organization.
- Link business needs and opportunities to CI and develop a roadmap to close gaps, install and improve process and sustain results. Leverage a solid understanding of CI fundamentals combined with Lean tools, including implementation of Lean Material Systems.
- Create visual management to drive visibility to kaizen funnel and sustainment. Ensure effective sustainment of results and teach and drive problem solving as needed to close gaps to targets. Develop framework and plan to build out CI Certified Practitioner funnel and capabilities.
- Lead teams to install and drive good daily management (DM) and problem-solving processes (PSP) to find root cause and countermeasure for driving and delivering growth plans.
- Train and install foundational capabilities in SDP, action planning, key performance indicator (KPI) management.
- Lead transactional process improvement kaizens / projects.
- Directly provide formal and informal CI training and coaching.
- Establish employee-centered operational excellence teams to teach and practice CI processes within the organization.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or science; or equivalent.
- Minimum of five years of operations, engineering or Lean implementation experience.
- Practical and demonstrable knowledge in Lean tools such as standard work, problem solving, TPM, Lean material systems and SMED.
- Hands-on experience implementing improvements in a continuous improvement (Lean, Six Sigma, TPS, etc.), line management or consulting role.
