Plant Manager -- Midwest & Southeast (Closed)

THE COMPANY

Our client is a leading provider of products and services for the funeral and cemetery industries.

THE POSITION

Reporting to a Regional Vice President, the Plant Manager will be responsible for supervising all site operations and ensuring employees meet the standards set forth by the company for safety, quality, efficiency, preventative maintenance and housekeeping.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage day-to-day operations in all departments at plant.
  • Monitor costs and expenses and assure costs are aligned with the budget.
  • Coordinate daily production on the shop floor, ensuring the necessary resources (parts, supplies, tools and equipment) are provided for efficient and effective production of goods.
  • Drive proactive safety culture throughout the facility.
  • Develop and implement continuous process improvements specifically related to efficiency, safety and housekeeping; implement Lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Ensure all state, federal and company safety requirements are current and adhered to, including employee training and necessary meetings.
  • Maintain compliance with all OSHA and DOT requirements.
  • Manage all department purchasing, warehousing and inventory control of both raw and finished goods.
  • Responsible for contacting vendors, ordering parts and supplies and monitoring lead times to ensure deliveries of these materials meet demand.
  • Manage all employee training, disciplinary issues and performance evaluations in accordance with company policy and state and federal law.
  • Accountable for the maintenance and repair of the company’s facilities, equipment and vehicles.
  • Physically assist in any manufacturing and delivery or customer service issue as required.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree within a manufacturing discipline is preferred.
  • Eight-plus years of experience in production, purchasing, equipment and maintenance in a rapid growth manufacturing environment with at least three years in a leadership capacity. Specific experience in precast concrete or an industry requiring urgency of service is highly desirable.
  • A background driving and maintaining a proactive safety philosophy and culture.
  • Lean experience with a proven ability to effect change and develop a rapid continuous improvement culture.
  • Strong leadership skills and proven ability to facilitate a cross-functional team while building consensus. Leads by personal example and acts like an owner rather than an employee.
