Plant Manager -- Southeast (Closed)

Our client is a leading provider of plastic packing and containers.

THE POSITION

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interviewing, hiring, firing, training and coaching of direct reports; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining; addressing complaints; and resolving issues.
  • Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with company policies and procedures and applicable state and federal laws.
  • Communicates, verifies and enforces company policies and procedures throughout the facility.
  • Coordinates facility activities associated with installing, operating, repairing and maintaining equipment, tooling and facilities.
  • Assists in developing and implementing the annual manufacturing plan, including budgets, capital expenditures and human resource requirements.
  • Manages and controls the areas of production, tooling, warehouse, maintenance and other related functions within the facility while working with quality, customer service, sales and safety departments and their representatives.
  • Responsible for maximizing manufacturing efficiencies consistent with approved quality specifications by developing programs for continuous improvement utilizing the root cause analysis process.
  • Performs various computer related functions to generate reports and analysis designed to monitor operational performance, utilizing TMM, MDT, Epicor / Mattec, NexGen (TPM), Microsoft Office and other types of software.
  • Ensures that all safety products (Lockout Tag-out, fall protection, PIT, etc.) are followed when the equipment is being used or being cleaned or maintained.
  • Practices good housekeeping, including clutter-free work area and general cleaning; follows FDA product safety standards, follows IPC product defense standards and complies with all SQF requirements.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, management or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment serving in progressive roles with at least five in a leadership capacity.
  • Experience implementing Lean manufacturing.
  • Strong leadership skills and proven ability to facilitate cross-functional teams while building consensus.
  • Enjoys working on the front line vs. in the office.
  • Experience in plastics / thermoforming / food packaging / injection molding or similar industry with a background in equipment / maintenance in a turnaround environment a plus.
