Plant Manager -- Mid-South (closed)

THE POSITION

Responsible for the overall operations of the plant – including, but not limited to, production scheduling; manufacturing; shipping; warehouse; maintenance; customer service; human resources; and the implementation of change initiatives with full P&L accountability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise department managers and operations on all shifts. Ensure a safe work environment, identifying and acting upon potentially unsafe conditions.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment. Encourage and promote an environment of continuous improvement. Remove constraints and waste to improve yields and efficiencies. Routinely review standard work in all departments to ensure processes and specifications are met. Monitor product consistency and yields to determine trends and areas for improvement.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, quality and production problems. Communicate with maintenance and engineering personnel as needed
  • Work with R&D and Product Management to develop new product strategies. Work with accounting to develop department and plant manufacturing budgets. Monitor operating expenses and opportunities to reduce cost while maintaining product quality and availability.
  • Consistently display strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate people. Must be flexible and have the ability to adapt to any situation. Prepare direct reports for the next level through mentoring, coaching and counseling.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; master’s degree is desirable.
  • Twelve-plus years of experience in a manufacturing environment serving in progressive roles with at least five in a leadership capacity.
  • Experience in plastics EBM / SBM / injection molding or similar industry with a background in equipment / maintenance is highly preferred.
  • Practical experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and a solid grasp of Lean tools and concepts including hoshin, SMED, 5S, standard work, kaizen, value stream mapping, pull systems, flow systems, jidoka, A3, etc. and TPM.
