Operations Manager -- Northeast & Canada (Closed)

THE COMPANY

Our client is a leading manufacturer and supplier of lighting products and safety systems.

THE POSITION

Direct and manage all plant operations with overall responsibilities for production; maintenance; receiving and shipping; warehouse; and other plant activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive Lean to deliver continuous performance improvements in safety, quality, delivery and productivity that meets corporate objectives.
  • Communicate and maintain all safety guidelines and standards are followed.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety performance as measured by weekly KPIs and action plans.
  • Drive companywide Lean (GPS) objectives in operations and in all functional areas to build a companywide sustaining Lean culture.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards for safety, quality, delivery, cost control and waste reduction.
  • Create facility budget within guidelines established to meet operating targets and improvements for each year; and manages facilities with approved budget, communicating issues quickly and effectively.
  • Review and drive weekly KPIs and action plans to enable delivery of monthly financial goals and meet customer expectations.
  • Provide leadership in employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training and development.
  • Develop and maintain an environment that encourages individual contribution and commitment to quality, output and customer service.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, management or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in production, purchasing, equipment and maintenance in a rapid growth manufacturing environment with at least five years in a leadership capacity.
  • Experience in a high mix / low volume complex environment; experience integrating a new business acquisition are preferred.
  • Practical experience implementing Lean manufacturing and a strong grasp of the Lean tools and concepts including hoshin, SMED, 5S, Standard Work, kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Pull Systems, Flow Systems, jidoka, A3, etc., and TPM.
  • Formal Lean manufacturing training through a reputable source.
