Our client is a leading provider of recyclable plastic packaging and containers.

THE POSITION

The Head of Manufacturing Engineering position oversees the development and implementation of manufacturing processes to maintain proper product functionality alongside cost efficiency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures all manufacturing safety regulatory policies and procedures are implemented and maintained for a safe and healthy work environment. This includes correct PPE, lock out tag out compliance, fall protection and a certified user program for equipment and tools.
  • Assesses department employees and provides opportunities for professional growth and development through external and internal education.
  • Manages annual goals and objectives, performs personal development reviews (PDR) on direct reports and fosters individual growth and development.
  • Responsible for the attainment of the plant budget as it relates to the technical group expenses.
  • Ensures the quality of product meets all specifications.
  • Runs continuous improvement plans / projects to KPIs, such as yield, setup times, FTR and MTBF.
  • Manages investigations and improvements into manufacturing product / processing issues, focusing on tooling/machinery improvements and Lean principles.
  • Analyzes and designs Lean manufacturing cells using effective systems and simulation tools to optimize use of space, equipment, material and personnel.
  • Practices safe work habits and follows general safety procedures, such as proper lifting and bending, ergonomics, proper use of equipment and use of personal protection equipment (PPE).

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment serving in progressive technical roles (engineering, machine / mold shop, maintenance, etc.) with at least four years in a leadership capacity.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma.
  • Ability to define manufacturing problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and apply learnings to practical manufacturing and industrial situations.
