Executive VP of Operations, North America -- Southwest (Closed)

The company is a global leader in steel mill services.

THE POSITION

The EVP of Operations reports directly to the CEO. This person is responsible for all facets of a modern industrial operations environment within a private equity steel service provider industry including but not limited to the health, safety and welfare for more than 1,000 hourly and salary team members across 18 sites within North America. The North America sites currently sit within the Great Lakes Region, Ohio River Region, the Mid-Atlantic and in the South. The EVP will have full financial responsibility, accountable for customer service and customer relationships; same site sales; collaborate on new business; product quality; cost savings measures; accountability for significant performance improvement; and turnaround responsibilities. This person will have the Regional Director of Operations reporting directly to them and will have total facility ownership of the sites.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports highest level of health, safety and team member welfare.
  • Oversees compliance with state and federal regulations, doing the right things all the time.
  • Oversees full site P&L responsibility for the sites across North & South America.
  • Responsible for personnel development creating and supporting operational excellence.
  • Provides leadership for employee relations and labor relations through effective and respectful communications.
  • Ensures and drives customer support and satisfaction through providing “World Class Experience – World Class Service” through driving operational metrics.
  • Provides support for inside sales by expanding and driving the service portfolio at individual sites.
  • Works with suppliers and vendors by driving improvement of equipment and materials used.
  • Experience in an operations intensive business is required, but expertise in this industry is not a prerequisite.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in engineering or equally technical discipline.
  • At least 10 years of multi-site operations leadership experience in a heavy industrial field services environment.
  • Strong grasp of Lean tools and proven experience driving enterprise-level Continuous Improvement in a similar environment.
  • Preferred: Master’s in business administration or operations.
