The company is a wholesale buyer, seller and distributor of cell phones.
THE POSITION
The EVP of Operations will play the lead role and share in the financial upside of building a new operation from the ground up that has significant revenue generating capability. This person will be responsible for researching and engineering the process; procuring machinery; hiring staff; and driving continuous improvement. The EVP of Operations must have a solid foundation in Lean methodologies, with a passion for creating flow, reducing waste and improving efficiency. If successful in developing this new line, the EVP of Operations will have significant opportunities for growth, as there is also substantial opportunity for process improvement within the company’s existing operation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build out proof of concept for a new buff and polish, repair and refurbishing operation within 90 days of joining.
- Become familiar with current repair capabilities and gaps given the rapidly changing pre-owned phone industry.¬
- Scale to 1,000 devices per day within nine months of joining.
- Scale throughput by hiring staff and building out line with additional machinery.
- Quantify lead time and throughput across the overall repair / refurbish value stream and within individual processes within the value stream.
- Optimize core processes within the distribution center within one year of joining.
- Build a current state map and spaghetti diagrams to develop a deep understanding of current processes and see where waste is being generated.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Undergraduate engineering degree or master’s degree in logistics, supply chain, industrial engineering or another related field.
- Five-plus years of experience as an operations leader.
- Deep understanding of Lean philosophy and experience with implementing Lean processes.
- Passion and competence for tackling complex problems, breaking them down and using root cause analysis to drive fundamental improvements.
