Director, Supply Chain -- Midwest (Closed)

THE COMPANY

Our client is an exciting start-up that manufactures seating and interior solutions for boats.

THE POSITION

The Director of Supply Chain will lead the effort to design and launch a world-class supply chain function. This is a hands-on role to start that will oversee the building phase of supply chain systems and processes. As the business scales and more resources are attained, this will shift to include more management and delegation. At scale, the following functions will report up to this position: capacity planning; production scheduling; inventory control; warehouse operations; transportation and logistics; procurement and continuous improvement of supply chain business processes and systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement an integrated materials management organization that leverages both leading supply chain thinking and Lean methodology to reduce error, eliminate waste and achieve world-class performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a supply chain strategy that includes the set-up of a new manufacturing facility with aggressive timelines (ability lead implementation project).
  • Develop a comprehensive plan to procure quality materials at the best possible price and terms while enabling the company to meet on-time deliveries and increase profitability.
  • Manage inventory effectively to maintain timely, accurate results of operations and positive cash flows.
  • Develop and manage materials planning functions for raw materials.
  • Create and utilize forecasts to assist with material procurement and inventory planning.
  • Create integrated processes among departments and outside suppliers to assist in procurement, inventory planning and distribution of finished goods.
  • Establish and monitor critical performance measurements and benchmarks related to procurement and deliveries.
  • Measure actual performance against goals and benchmarks.
  • Serve as key negotiator with materials suppliers to receive the best terms and pricing.
  • Manage the distribution of finished goods through the shipping fleet.
  • Develop a system that achieves parts presentation to the line in quantities that match production line (customer of supply chain) needs and schedule requirements.
  • Material flow / internal logistics.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree (technical / operations, business administration or supply chain).
  • Ten-plus years of management experience in manufacturing.
  • Five-plus years managing and leading supply chain professionals.
  • Demonstrated performance managing planning / scheduling, customer service, warehousing and procurement using KPI measurements and metrics.
  • Supply chain experience in a Lean environment.
