Director, Operations -- Northeast (Closed)

THE POSITION

The Director of Operations reports to the Chief Supply Chain Officer and is responsible for direction, strategy and planning and execution for the company’s manufacturing operations in the Northeast. This position requires 50/50 presence between the two sites.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads plant performance and transformation of the two sites. Responsible for change management activities, attraction, retention and engagement of employees.
  • Oversees discrete and process manufacturing and takes action to continuously improve both sites with best practices.
  • Coordinates optimization of product routing.
  • Leads the consolidation and expansion of insourcing and outsourcing activities of the plants, including the consolidation of plant operations
  • Implements best-in-class activities surrounding people, process and systems; change agent and leader of Lean transformation.
  • Develops plans for new areas of technology for the manufacturing functions along with sufficient planning for areas that support the mission of the corporation within operations.
  • Reviews and approves adequate plans for the control of planned outputs, budget spending, labor efficiency, material efficiency, engineering effectiveness, customer service, order entry efficiency and labor utilization.
  • Reviews performance against operating plans and standards. Provides reports to employees on interpretation of results and approves changes in direction of plans.
  • Ensures that manufacturing capabilities meet or exceed all industry and customer requirements for cost, quality and responsiveness.
  • Presents monthly reports on performance.
  • Aligns plant work systems and management practices with established best practices and company global manufacturing standards.
  • Drives Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement deployment and improvement initiatives.
  • Develops specific short-term and long-term plans and programs together with supporting budget requests and financial estimates.
  • Reviews and approves cost control reports, cost estimates, manpower and facilities requirements forecasts.
  • Partners with Sales to meet with customers to discuss and set scheduling timelines for product delivery.
