Director, Operational Excellence

Our client is a family office and private investment firm specializing in the general industrial and business services sectors.
THE POSITION
The Director of Operational Excellence will lead initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency, productivity and quality across portfolio companies in the general industrial and business services sectors. This role will be instrumental in identifying, designing and executing strategies that maximize operational efficiency, streamline processes, reduce costs and improve overall performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operational strategy deployment: Collaborate with portfolio company management teams and senior leadership to define and implement operational excellence strategies aligned with the firm’s investment objectives and long-term goals.
- Performance optimization: Lead initiatives to improve productivity, profitability and scalability within portfolio companies, focusing on cost reduction, process automation and continuous improvement.
- Drive key performance metrics: Define, track and analyze key metrics to measure operational success and identify areas for ongoing improvement.
- Change management: Guide portfolio company leadership through organizational changes, aligning operational goals with business objectives and supporting effective implementation of change initiatives.
- Optimize supply chain and production processes: Evaluate and refine manufacturing and supply chain processes to enhance productivity and drive cost efficiencies across the portfolio.
- Due diligence support: Collaborate with the investment team during the due diligence process to assess operational capabilities and risks, providing insights into operational strengths, weaknesses and opportunities.
SALARY RANGE
$215,000 – $235,000 + Bonus
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or a related field; master’s preferred.
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification or equivalent experience.
- Ten-plus years in operations / operational excellence or process improvement roles within industrial, manufacturing or related sectors; experience in private equity-backed companies is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologies. Exceptional project management, analytical and strategic thinking skills.
- Proven track record in driving change, leading cross functional teams and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across multi-site operations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with C-suite executives and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
- Successful and demonstrable change management track record.
