Our client is a distributor of building products.
THE POSITION
This person will be responsible for managing all aspects of a high-volume 24/7 distribution facility and manufacturing / assembly operation for home building products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct all departmental activities to ensure the timely execution of the schedule to meet production and service goals. Ensure a high level of customer service while meeting inventory management goals, including raw materials, packaging materials and finished goods.
- Ensure a safe and orderly working environment and maintain compliance to meet and exceed all site and regulatory requirements.
- Manage all quality related activities to ensure a high level of customer service in both distributed and manufactured / assembled products. Ensure compliance to Core Values and use the Quality System, including ISO procedures, corrective and preventative actions, the customer complaint policy and best practices to achieve continuous process improvements and ensure total customer satisfaction.
- Ensure an environment that values on-time and in-full service, understanding the customers’ needs and desired outcomes; and anticipating (and planning for) challenges that affect the team's ability and timing to achieve those outcomes.
- Complete projects and assignments on time and according to plan. Develop and execute a capital plan for the department and associated business units.
- Manage all departmental maintenance activities by maintaining equipment in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Have a track record of successful continuous improvement initiatives and results with a focus upon Lean manufacturing and 5S. Identify, recommend and execute continuous improvement initiatives in the production operation.
- Create and implement improvement plans for the overall operation. Lead and support kaizen events to drive focused improvements while championing the use and standardization of SOPs.
- Effectively manage departmental staffing requirements in accordance with budgetary and contractual requirements.
- Communicate goals and objectives, apply company policy, coach, administer discipline and ensure positive employee relations. Build bench strength through active development of direct reports.
- Schedule and track standard preventive manufacturing measures and prioritizes plant maintenance opportunities.
- Actively develop partnership and connection with the company and business unit leadership, as well as actively engage with the commercial teams engaged in the business supported by the facility.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- College degree or five years of management experience in a related business environment.
- Ability to travel as required.
- Ability to be an OSHA certified powered industrial truck operator or equivalent experience.
- Experience with Lean and / or continuous improvement in manufacturing and distribution.
