THE POSITION

The Director, Lean Improvement Office is a champion for improvement and engages with all levels of leadership and caregivers across the system to implement a culture of Lean transformation while building trusting and collaborative relationships.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, align and implement strategic and operational Lean improvements utilizing standard and consistent Lean methodologies and tools.
  • Build organizational expertise and remains current on Lean strategies with specific focus on healthcare and healthcare-related industries.
  • Participates with the development of clear goals for True North transformation, including people development, quality, safety, patient experience and financial stability.
  • Drive significant change and adoption of new Lean processes that will result in the measurable elimination of waste, improved quality and improved financial sustainability.
  • Monitors, tracks and reports operational performance in key areas (labor productivity, resource utilization, supplies, etc.).
  • Prepare, analyze and present detailed utilization, financial and other information to support the work (utilization rates, space use, staffing levels, volume analysis and cost analysis).
  • Strengthen provider relationships; establishes ongoing dialogue with key physicians to build trust and gain physician engagement; and enhanced adoption of Lean management.
  • Responsible for financial forecast development, regular monitoring, accountability and meeting all operational targets for all areas within span of control.
  • Hire, direct, coach and monitor the performance of all direct reports.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Previous work within healthcare systems is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, healthcare administration, public health, nursing or related field.
  • Minimum seven years of related experience that includes a minimum of two years of experience leading Lean initiatives.
  • Deep knowledge of Lean / TPS and experience successfully training and implementing a wide range of Lean tools.
  • Must have had previous responsibility driving change in environments without mandate or direct supervisory relationship to others.
