THE POSITION

The person will lead the company’s newly established operations group, providing a concentrated focus and optimizing functions as supply chain, logistics, quality, manufacturing production, service and technical support. The new COO will ensure efficient and profitable operations; maintain customer satisfaction via on-time delivery; drive new product production and process improvement; and ensure that the company improves its overall operational efficiency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with the Executive team to develop, set, communicate and drive operations strategy for the company while closely managing targets that will likely change with the scale of the business.
  • Work closely with senior management to support growth initiatives that could be of an organic nature or a result of add-on acquisitions.
  • Collaborate with finance on customer and SKU profitability, KPI development and other reporting / analyses to foster a data-driven culture that best leverages the operations to deliver maximum profitability.
  • Drive operational excellence by leading, teaching and implementing Lean manufacturing, demand flow, production planning and other contemporary best operational practices.
  • Drive standard manufacturing, service, support and quality scorecard metrics across all operations. Lead Lean efforts, expand these efforts and include people, safety, customer / product quality and service and performance measurements.
  • Communicate best practices between service / support, engineering and production and manufacturing to speed response times. Ensure that operations is aligned with sales needs to maximize efficiency of operations and reduce waste.
  • Integrate departments and regions and promote a collaborative environment.
  • Communicate continuously across all levels of the company to ensure complete and thorough communication of performance plans and execution.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in managing manufacturing operations, material planning, procurement, distribution and logistical aspects of a business with at least seven years at the leadership level.
  • Significant experience in service and support. Drive a customer-first culture and implement efficiencies and core capabilities in that process.
  • Significant experience in a new product development environment utilizing tollgate controls and other project management tools.
  • Experience driving improved productivity and performance, continuous improvement and best practice approaches within an environment new to Lean.
  • Well versed in methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma and have experience implementing in different environments.
