COO -- Northeast (Closed)

THE COMPANY

Our client is a distributor and manufacturer of technical and engineered industrial components.

THE POSITION

The COO will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations across the company’s three business units. The role includes driving the integration and assimilation of the acquired businesses; creating a Lean operating model and cadence; and developing a culture and team that ensures the business operates smoothly. This person will be responsible for getting the resources in place, connecting employees and arranging common actions between the business units. Sequentially, the COO will work with senior leadership to establish a centralized manufacturing strategy that makes sense for the business. The COO will report directly to the CEO.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Experience in a field operations intensive business is required, but expertise in this industry is not a prerequisite.
  • Deploy consistent use of ERP platform across all business units.
  • Develop operational goals that are aggressive, yet obtainable, and tied closely to the long-term goals of the company.
  • Foster change, incorporate innovation and implement strategies throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Establish and coordinate reporting, besides financial reporting, for vital metrics.
  • Responsible for personnel development by creating and supporting operational excellence.
  • Integration and assimilation of current companies.
  • Ensures and drives customer support and satisfaction through providing world-class customer service through driving operational metrics.
  • Works with suppliers and vendors by driving improvement of equipment and materials used.
  • Nurtures a collaborative environment, promote transparency and communicate positively and effectively.
  • Frequent travel is expected.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in engineering or equally technical discipline; MBA or advanced degree a plus.
  • At least 10-15 years of multi-site operations leadership experience leading a diverse group of operational and support functions, including manufacturing and distribution operations; supply chain, quality; and continuous improvement. A background that includes big and small company experience is preferred.
  • Strong grasp of Lean tools and proven experience driving enterprise-level continuous improvement in a similar environment.
  • Strategic advisor and driver of the organization. Ability to assess, advise and report on forward-thinking manufacturing, technology and talent trends against ROI.
  • A clear communicator with the ability to translate a business strategy into specific team objectives, breaking down organizational boundaries through collaboration and building strong relationships based on trust with all levels of employees.
